HAPPY 4th of JULY!

Our day began at 6:00 am when Grandma Wilder picked up Hannah and Spencer. Grandma spent hours decorating a stroller for Hannah and a tricycle for Spencer to ride in a small children's parade. Spencer was having a great time on the bike until someone pulled up with a motorized green dump truck. Sorry Grandma. The tricycle couldn't compete, and Spencer quickly became one excited passenger in the green dump truck.

Jeff and I participated in the annual 10K Peachtree Road Race with about 55,000 of our closest friends. We didn't set any records, but had a good time. Highlights included:

  • An hour and a half wait at the start line
  • +70% humidity
  • Lots of spandex
  • Listening to roadside bands play everything from Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust" to "The Chicken Dance"
  • A Father outside a Cathedral spraying "Holy" water
  • Roadside dancers in Speedos
  • Passing Clark Howard at mile 6
  • Receiving the 2008 t-shirt (We're wearing our badges of honor in photo below.)
  • Losing my lunch after exiting the MARTA train
Our family ate lunch at Grandma and Grandpa Wilders, visited cousins and even squeezed in another BBQ with some friends. Needless to say, we were so exhausted that we didn't quite make it to fireworks. We have a few sparklers and fireworks to light during the next few weeks.
